In the morning, we will take one-hour car from Hangzhou to Shaoxing. Shaoxing is a well-known Watertown near Hangzhou, where it is the hometown of the famous Shaoxing Rice Wine and the Chinese Yue Opera. As a local special way of traveling in the water way, we will follow the custom to have a lake cruise in Black Awning Boat in the inner river of the town. Along the river, you will see the local people’s style of living and the bustling local bazaar. After the river cruise, you may be interested in take a short trip by local tricycle in the town. In China, we can not see the tricycles as a traffic tool any more. But in the small town like Shaoxing, it is very easy to come across the tricycles driven by local man with a terai hat.
After a typical water town style lunch, we can not miss the first Chinese Crossroad- Ba Zi Bridge (Ba Zi in Chinese means the character eight "八"). The bridge is so named because of the shaped like is just like Ba Zi. You can take a walk at the crossroad over the river and imagine how important this bridge to the local people. The rest of the afternoon time, we will go to Houshan to visit the peach flowers if it is in the spring time, or we can go to Lanting Pavilion to be close to Chinese Calligraphy culture.
Transfer back to Hangzhou later in the afternoon.
